FRONT ROW
Published:  01 July, 2007

“At Front Row, we don’t want to dictate style: we want to respond to it.” In order to achieve this and stay ahead of the game, the company closely monitors existing sales, ensures that styles and colourways are constantly assessed and keeps a close eye on competitors. “Above all, Front Row responds to market demand. This includes gathering, but more importantly, taking on board customer feedback,” says managing director Clive Hurley.

For the summer, Front Row has looked at prevailing menswear trends and concluded that men want breathable fabrics and loose cuts.

“Linen is the ideal fabric to be wearing when temperatures start to rise, because it doesn’t encourage sweat like some synthetic materials,” says Hurley.

Front Row includes two linen shirts in its menswear range. The short sleeve option (FR15) is available in three classic colours: navy, white and black, and from sizes XS-XXL. It has a three button concealed placket with decorative stitching, pearlised lazer cut buttons, which are dyed to shade, and a scooped hem. It is loosely fitted to prevent clinging and encourage air-flow, at the same time as being smartly tailored.

When hot summer days turn to cooler summer evenings, the long-sleeved linen option (FR16) is ideal. It’s available in the same three colours and sizes and retains the same sense of style as well as giving skin room to breathe.

For a more casual option, Front Row offers a short sleeve rugby shirt (FR3) in five sizes (S-XXL). The four colours available (white, black, bottle, navy) were carefully chosen to best reflect customer demand. It has a locker patch, taped shoulder and side vents and twin needle hems and provides an ideal blank canvas for company branding, sports team logo or name

Front Row realises the importance of providing suitable seasonal options, and its FR67 tailored shorts will keep the bottom half of the body cool in the summer. They are made from 100% cotton canvas and come in sizes S-XXL. The three colours available (dark navy, black, stone) will also coordinate with any colour choice of top.

Hurley adds: “Contrast fabrics, embossed buttons and different stitching finishes are the prevailing menswear trends at present, and we have included these features in many of our products.

“The collar on the FR3 rugby, for example, is in a contrasting shade.Washing and textural finishes are also important at the moment, and with this in mind our linen shirts and canvas shorts are all garment washed and pre-shrunk, limiting any unwanted size changes. When it comes to menswear, staying aware of current trends at the same time as sticking firmly to tried and tested styles is vital, and it is this balance that we always aim for in all our products.”
