Slick Stitch snaps up 15 machines from Barudan

Deal signed at P&P LIVE sees original order for eight almost double

As reported in February, Slick Stitch Embroidery Company Ltd were due to complete a significant order with Barudan UK for eight machines – totalling more than 70 heads.

But by the time the deal was signed at February’s Printwear & Promotion LIVE in Birmingham, the order had almost doubled to 15 machines – the first of which have just been installed at Slick Stitch’s Wolverhampton premises.

“There was a sad moment as the company’s first two machines (bought in the late ’80s) were moved to make way for the new deliveries,” saod Will Hemming, head of operations at Slick Stitch.

“This latest round of machines will set us up nicely for the extra capacity our clients have asked for in 2014. We’re looking forward to having them all up and running during April.

“One of our latest in house developments has been to install real time machine reporting, so we will soon have regular data on over 400 heads.

These innovations are only possible to due regular investment in new plant and supporting technology.”

Dave Crabtree, head of Barudan UK, was on hand to oversee the delivery and installation, as well as the removal of the older units, which are on the way to a new home overseas.

Said Dave: “We were already pleased with the order from Slick Stitch, so when it got even bigger we were obviously delighted. As part of the deal we’ve also handled the removal of the old machines to make way for the new plant, which is all part of the service we offer.”

Slick Stitch Embroidery Company Ltd say they are the largest garment embroiderer in Europe. Founded as a single machine operation by the Jain Family in 1991, it has grown into a trusted partner for many blue chip corporate suppliers and brands. The business took delivery of 19 new machines in 2013, and backs up its operational capacity with a suite of bespoke software to handle incoming orders and provide real time feedback to clients.

Barudan UK is a subsidiary of Barudan Japan, who have been supplying advanced embroidery machines to over 100 countries since 1959. Barudan UK provide a full sales, training and installation service, as well as follow up support and servicing.
