High-speed, high-resolution hybrid printing is a reality

DS-4000 Digital Squeegee

M&R’s DS-4000 Digital Squeegee makes high-speed, high-resolution hybrid printing a reality.

Combining the DS-4000 and a newer compatible M&R automatic press (Stryker, Challenger III or Gauntlet III) brings garment decorators the best aspects of screen and digital printing, including faster printing (up to 400 prints per hour), greater flexibility, reduction in the number of screens required, and lower costs. The amount of time devoted to image separations can be reduced, as can the total number of screens.

Ink costs can be dramatically reduced by screen printing a white underbase and digitally printing a full-colour CMYK image on top. This process can be used on a wide variety of fabrics – including cotton, poly, and triblends—and it eliminates the need for pretreatment and the use of expensive white digital underbase inks.

Hybrid printing also allows the user to print special effects (including foil, flock, and puff) before and/or after the digital print. And because the DS-4000 prints from digital files, each garment can contain unique elements, making image customisation and one-off printing a breeze. Digital Squeegee inks can be cured at full production speeds in conventional gas convection dryers, eliminating time-consuming heat-press curing.
