Thursday, December 8 was a special day in the Your Embroidery Services Ltd (YES Ltd.) calendar as it was the day that marked the official opening of the company’s new purpose designed headquarters.

The ceremony was conducted by colonel Tim Richmond, vice lord-lieutenant of Nottinghamshire, who, in declaring the building open, said that it was a very important day for the area showing that industry was still alive and thriving. His good wishes were received by managing director Roy Burton on behalf of the company.

Following the official ceremony there were formal speeches followed by a presentation to YES Ltd’s longest serving employee, Steve Gilbert. There was also a presentation of a vase demonstrating traditional Korean art to the company from major supplier SWF.

Visitors were treated to a tour of this fantastic facility which included areas not normally open to the public including a very well equipped electronics research and development department and dedicated customer support office. The latter is quite a different prospect as it consists of a triple glazed office where staff can give customer support with no interruptions or distractions.

Apart from colonel Richmond, guests included suppliers, members of the local and trade press and, of course, customers. One guest, Trevor Darnborough, was actually the very first person to buy a used embroidery machine from the company. He was also the first person to buy a SWF machine when YES Ltd first introduced them to the UK market.

Following lunch each department staged demonstrations on the latest equipment from this company’s wide and varied catalogue. Although the company name includes the word embroidery it would be major error to think this is all it does. Without doubt it is the leading company in supplying varied equipment and techniques to the garment decoration industry as well as the label printing and finishing trade and, more recently, the promotional printing industry.

This was a special day for the directors and staff but also for the industries at large as it was an opportunity to see the range of products available from this ever growing company.
