A game-changer for digital printing

SureColor SC-F7200

Epson is a game-changer when it comes to digital printing for both printwear and promotional material. With an emphasis on quality it has bought inkjet solutions to the professional markets for signage, photography, textiles, labels and much more.

One area of exceptional growth is dye sublimation and Epson’s SureColor SC-F models (SC-F9200, SC-F7200 and SC-F6200) have become bestsellers. All feature Epson’s PrecisionCore technology and TFP printheads that work in tandem with Epson’s UltraChrome inks. Although the ‘F’ for fabrics points to textiles these printers are extremely versatile and can produce décor, fashion and upholstery items and, with a polyester coating, print on to hard objects such as decorative plates, cutlery, phone cases, fobs and more.

In 2016 total digital printing of textiles (digital reactive and dye sublimation technology) accounted for 1,719,874,536sq m worldwide which equates to 4.69% of analogue produced fabrics (source IT Strategies). Growth is dramatic – WtiN Intelligence puts it at 17% per annum until 2019.

Fashion designers like John Herrera and Richard Quinn have worked with Epson to produce collections to rock their industry. But this is equipment that is not exclusive to the big hitters. Producers of textiles, décor and promotional materials can offer a practical solution to creative designers or brands or develop their own vibrant, stand-out products easily and profitably.
